And the Test Knitter Talks.

And the Test Knitter Talks.

Today I got and email from Denise over at Geek and Lawyer (she was one of my test knitters) she’s completed one of the Around the World Socks. We talked about the pattern a bit and what should be changed and fixed and so I should have the pattern done soon. What’s that you say you want pictures? Well I will give you some pictures!

Denise knit the sock with Lincraft’s Merino Crepe 5ply and it’s absolutely gorgeous.

Brava Denise Brava, you did a fine job, and thank you so much for test knitting this pattern.

Finding the one.

Finding the one.

I think that sometimes as knitters we tend to worry about the ones we love and our craft. Often it’s about the compatibility of the two. Sure your guys seems to not mind the knitting as of now, but he hasn’t lived with it you say. Will he mind the fact that I have knitting on the desk, next to the couch, on the bedside table, sometimes in the loo(very rarely usually it got left there on accident when I was tidying up)? How about the need to just pop into the LYS on the way home, or the oooooOOOOooo look a yarn shop on all of our vacations? What about the 4th jumper you have knit for that does fit right. The socks you have been “making” for him for 3 months now that were for his birthday 4 months ago.

We imagine our loving partners running away pulling out their hair in a fits due to the our habit. No matter how many times the show appreciation of our knitted gifts, or even the occasional fascination or even awe at what you were able to do with just sticks and string, we are still a touch skeptical. He’s okay now we say but soon he will wake up and realize he’s living with a deranged woman! So thus we are always looking for those little signs that he really truly gets you. Signs like “Honey I know tonight is our 1 year anniversary but it is also your knitting night and that is important to you so you go to that.” There is one sign though that is like  the bright northern star leading the lost home. When upon that big day the day that he asks you to be his wife and be with him for all of eternity he presents you with a gorgeous ring AND two skeins of sock yarn hand dyed to match your engagement ring.

Ryan Loves Brooklynne

Is that not the most beautiful yarn you have ever seen. It’s dyed by Morag from Vintage Purls in the exclusive colourway of “Ryan Loves Brooklynne”. I just about cried when he gave me this yarn it was such a sweet thing to do, and meant that he got me and understood me even more than the already perfect ring did. The best part is he solved a problem I was having without him even knowing it. I had been looking for the perfect sock weight yarn to make a lace shawl for the wedding and am so happy because this is even more perfect for that reason.

If that wasn’t enough to make you all jealous that I have Ryan and not you a couple days later he strolled home with this.

Anna Gratton South Pacific 100gm

I have a total of a 100g of that, which is Anna Gratton’s Pukera flock in South Pacific. It’s just sooo pretty I dug out my drop spindle and started spinning it almost instantly… I am hoping to have enough to make a hat when I’m done.

Knitting wise I have abandoned temporarily the around the world socks which I feel bad about but I’m really wanting to finish this asymmetrical jacket, which I have the back and the right front done , going to start the left front soon…

New Posts!

New Posts!

You may have been alerted recently through various ways that I had posted some new posts. For some of you whom have been reading this blog for a while these posts may have seemed like you’ve seen them before. You have! I recently (after switching blogging platforms over a year ago) imported all of my old blogger entries. Unfortunately for a lot of you I had forgotten to turn off my alert software till halfway through the process. Luckily the process happened way too fast for the ping.fm alert thing and you only got about 7 or 8 instead of 50.  This post is all to say sorry for that and to let you know about some changes.

One I am going to delete my old blogger blog. You can now read through all of those posts on this blog, they are any posts before September 2007, or you can browse through any posts in the Blogger Import category by clicking the link in left sidebar or this link here.

Two there is  a new button, in the content section, at the bottom of each post that says Share/Save. That button makes it easier for you to share an individual post with people. What you do is click on the link and it will take you another screen that shows you all of your options on how you can share it(there are a lot). the most popular are bolded and at the top. For example lets say you really want to “Digg” my post you would go down and click the Share/Save button then on the next screen you would then click the Digg link. This will take you to the Digg.com website where you have to sign in(or sign up if you don’t already have an account) and “Digg” the post. If no one else has “Dugg” the post in the past you will have to submit it first this only take a second longer. Now you have shared that post and other people can “Digg” the post too if they also think it’s worthy of “Digging.”

Three you may have noticed a little bit of icons that have been added to the left sidebar with a bunch of icons under it, these are my “social homes” places where I “reside” while online. Now this isn’t all the places and hopefully I will be adding more soon. but it is most  of them. They include Facebook, Twitter, Digg, and Last.fm just to mention a few. Go ahead and add me to any of them your also on! Update: This now has all of my social homes on it. I think.  If you know I’m on a website that isn’t listed here then please let me know.

Last but not least you will see a few links under them even these are the blog rings I belong to. I keep meaning to get on a few more but those are it for now. So go ahead and have a look at a few other people who have blogs with at least some common thread.

And finally this is a simple image to help you see what I may mean by left side bar and other terms I may mean:

Diagram of The Blog Areas

Update: I have added another little widget into the left sidebar since making this post it is under my list of “social homes” and this is the online status of my various chat identities so if you want to chat or talk message me

A White Wedding

When getting engaged there were a few things I wasn’t aware would happen. As much as I wanted to get married I really wasn’t prepared with the fact that I basically had to start planning yesterday! I wasn’t prepared for the fact that I would actually enjoy the organizing and planning the scheduling and calling. As much as I am an artist I am also a virgo and my analytical brain can easily sort that kind of a thing out. I Think it also helps that I have done a lot of event planning. I also wasn’t ready to be bombarded with never ending questions. How did he propose? Have you set the date? Where is it going to be held? What are you serving for dinner? What flowers? What colours?

Jeez people it’s only been a week since I said yes to a question that came with a ring. I have noticed already there will be somethings that are a bit harder to get done. Like convincing your fiancé that music from the Doctor Who soundtrack would be wonderful to walk down the aisle to. Or finding comfortable cute white shoes in my size. Making my own dress and invites without going insane. And most of all not to natter on about it incessantly until you all leave for more interesting blogs. These are my challenges and I fully accept them.

Ryan and I also thank you whole heartedly for all of your well wishes and congratulations I will still try to thank each one of you individually(this last week has been a real headspinner) but in the mean while Thank You!!
